4 Star Sales Review

Last year I bought a used vehicle and bumper to bumper warranty from Capital. Soon after the engine light began shining intermittently. I was unable to get a hold of a service guy to address the problem at Capital, eventually giving up until last week when the problem became worse. We rented a vehicle (covered under warranty) and dropped off the car. Turns out, NONE of the necessary repairs were covered and we had to eat the rental cost. Not to mention the loss of time and frustration we experienced realizing we were shit out of luck. The $2,200 warranty would have more than covered the repairs. I'm still not sure why bumper to bumper warranties exist if they only cover the bumper.
I came in pissed off, and left relatively happy. Jason was my sales agent. His integrity shows. Great guy to work with. My expectations were low and at the end of my experience I can say Capital Ford did make an effort to correct the situation. I applaud them for taking some responsibility and trying to find a reasonable solution to the situation.
The finance department, however, was not pleasant to deal with. 1 guy insisted on explaining why my bumper to bumper warranty didn't cover the engine on the vehicle. A complete waste of my time that didn't address my problem. I was sold a bumper to bumper warranty with the expectation it would cover the engine which sits in between the bumpers. He even stated, 'we do not sell bumper to bumper warranties'. It was obviously bull shit. As I was sitting with Jason I overheard another sales agent pitching a bumper to bumper warranty to another customer. It took some effort not to stand up and cause a scene. I hope that customer realizes what that warranty is just another way to suck cash out of his pocket.
I ended up buying a new explorer for my wife. The finance guy in charge of that tried to slip in an extended warranty into the deal along with GAP insurance. Dumb ass move considering my entire experience was the result of a shitty warranty that didn't cover the engine. I'm sure his shitty tactics payoff for the dealership with most customers but I caught it. His actions alone just about drove me away from Ford, forever. Is it too much to ask to be up front and honest with customers? It's a wonder I can say my experience was positive. If I was less attentive that guy would have sucked another few grand out of my pocket.
At the end of the day, Capital took the used car off my hands and sold me a new car at a price that eased my frustration. As long as Jason is still there next year, I'll return to purchase another car. I don't look forward to dealing with the finance department again. I'll work to show up with financing I've secured on my own.
They are taking a look at the brakes from another Ford we own. If the service department can service our old Ford, despite our problems we experienced trying to get ahold of them last year, I may even use their service department for service of our two Explorers. I'll at least give them a chance.
The best part of my experience was Jason, the sales agent. The worst, the entire finance department and shitty warranties. I'm undecided on the service department. Maybe they'll be more responsive with our Ford vehicles than they were with the other vehicles we tried to get help with in the past.
My wife is happy in her new explorer. I've inherited her old explorer. Despite the unexpected costs of buying a new vehicle with an inflated payment, I can say it turned out much better than I expected.

Did not discuss finance options because I had already arranged financing.
The used car that I purchased was older and less costly than the norm for your dealership. This is a market that could be explored as people like to have the confidence that a reputable dealership can provide even though there is no warranty.

0 Star Sales ReviewIt took way too long to complete the sales process. I came in the dealership with a preapproved loan and an agreement on the price of the new mustang I wanted. All we had to do was agree on the value of my trade in and do the paperwork. It only took a few minutes to have an agreement. Why then did it take 4 hours to get me to be able to drive it home. There were long periods of waiting for things that I had no idea what was going on. I'm also still waiting for the wheels that I ordered with the purchase on August 14. It is now Sept 5 and I don't know what is going on.
